dreamland
A coming of age drama set in a unique trailer park (aka “alternative living community”) in the gorgeous New Mexico desert. It tells the story of Audrey, a bright 18 year old who has spent years putting her own dreams aside in order to take care of her father (who hasn’t left the park since Audrey’s mother died years earlier) and her best friend Calista, a beautiful girl suffering from the early stages of Multiple Sclerosis. When Mookie, a handsome aspiring basketball player, moves into the park, Audrey sets him up with Calista, only to realize that she herself has feelings for him. His presence is the catalyst that leads Audrey to question her relationships and ultimately pursue her dreams. The film stars Agnes Bruckner (multiple award winner for BLUE CAR, coming up in THE WOODS and HAVEN), Kelli Garner (BULLY, coming up in CHEER UP, THUMBSUCKER and Scorcese’s AVIATOR) and Justin Long (GALAXY QUEST, DODGEBALL, coming up in HERBIE THE LOVEBUG). Starring alongside them are John Corbett (MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING, SEX AND THE CITY) and Gina Gershon (PREY FOR ROCK AND ROLL, BOUND). DREAMLAND is directed by Jason Matzner, who has directed music videos for such successful bands as Blink 182 and Save Ferris. The Director of Photography is Jonathan Sela (numerous music videos, SOUL PLANE, CHARM SCHOOL). The film is produced by Echo Lake Productions, whose numerous credits include LEVITY (with Billy Bob Thornton and Morgan Freeman), THE BIG EMPTY (with Jon Favreau and Kelsey Grammer), and THIRTEEN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT ONE THING (starring Matthew McConaughey). LEVITY opened last year’s Sundance Film Festival, marking Echo Lake’s third consecutive year with a film at the festival. Also producing the film is Peter Heller, whose many credits include the hit films LIKE MIKE and BROWN SUGAR (with Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan). The film is being executive produced by Hunter Films (Academy Award-nominated short film JOHNNY FLYNTON).
